Living walls don’t always have to be fixed to an existing structure. We’ve worked on several projects where we’ve installed onto a free-standing purpose built structure. These can be in both indoor and outdoor environments (as shown below).
The vertical steels of the structure need to be set to 600mm apart.
Carry out a structural survey to confirm steel sizes, however it’s usually a 100mm box section.
Find out whether it will be concreted in or bolted onto a steel plate.
After a certain height it will require bracing, so make sure you know the height of the finished structure.
