Living Wall Case Study

Tobacco Dock

25m² - 150m²
2 weeks
Client background:

Set in the heart of East London’s thriving enterprise zone and once a hub for luxury commodities rom the New World, Tobacco Dock is now a venue that inspires, in their own words, “the world’s leading brands and organisations and their agencies to create their most compelling, memorable and effective events”.

Scope of works:

With brick and steel being the prevailing materials in this historic dockyard, the designers wanted to introduce some natural touches to contradict the harsher surfaces.  The building itself is listed so there were restrictions to what we could do.  The solution was to build a free-standing living wall that hides parts of the historic wall that are more run-down or covered in unattractive pipework, without affecting the original structure.
This front area of the venue has now been re-opened and will specialise in food events (especially in the Summer!).
