Client background:

The New World Supermarket network is committed to sustainability, energy efficiency and reducing carbon emissions. A key part of this commitment is New Worlds approach to store design. A strong focus on sustainable building design includes incorporating native planting, wind energy, Living walls and energy sub metering programs. The Redcliffs store was built in the heart of an area devastated by the Christchurch earthquakes and the living wall formed an important part of the focus on bringing life and vibrancy back into Redcliffs.

Scope of works:

Oasis was given only a few weeks to complete the entire project from design through to full installation in time for the planned store opening schedule, following some building setbacks. Due to the strength of the ANS LivingWall system, installing at such short notice while still achieving a complete green canvas was possible. The living wall is maintained by Oasis several times a year to keep it looking beautiful.
